We need to declare a War on Weeds !!

We need to declare a war on weeds across Beighton ward.

Our pavements have become overgrown and not just with a few seasonal dandelions, but with established patches of grass that are permanent fixtures on our footpaths, growing between paving slabs and kerb stones. Some patches are so large that they cover entire sections of pavement, lifting slabs and creating trip hazards. The problem also leaves our streets looking untidy and uncared for.

It shouldn’t be like this. We pay our taxes, we expect far better. It’s almost as if no-one cares.

Well I care and I’m determined to clean up our streets in Beighton, Hackenthorpe, Sothall and Owlthorpe and to ensure that our pavements and footpaths are clear, safe, and accessible.

Below are some before and after photos of a footpath in Hackenthorpe which was reported, through our local MP Clive Betts, last month and shows that the council can clean up this problem, quickly and easily, when pressured to do so.
