David was born in and still lives in Woodhouse with his wife Linda, a Nurse. Away from Politics he has spent 35 years working in the NHS, currently working part time providing security advice and support to help keep NHS Staff working in the community safe.

He has played local league football and cricket in Sheffield for many years, though tends to contribute in an administrative rather than on-field role these days, which is a relief to many. As a result he is committed to maintain and improving facilities for future generation to have the pleasure and health benefits he was lucky to have access to.

Having stepped in at short notice due to illness, David was elected to represent the Mosborough ward and served in that capacity for 15 years. He continues to maintain strong links in the area through chairing the Governing Bodies of Shortbrook Primary School and Halfway Junior School.

Subsequently David was honoured to be asked to stand in the Richmond Ward, an area where he went to School (the old City School) and where he still has many friends and family.

‘It is really wonderful to have the opportunity to support the many dedicated people in Richmond who are working to improve the area help those in the greatest need.  Together we will keep working to ensure we are all proud of the place where we live.’

‘Going forward it is heartbreaking to see the problems people in our area are facing with the cost of living crisis and our immediate concern has got to be to provide those people with the help they need now. That has to be supported by available and affordable housing, jobs that pay decent wages and give people opportunities to progress and local sport and leisure facilities for people of all ages to be able to relax and enjoy the area. Those areas are where my energy will be focused.’
